Facial mole removal questions?
I don't have any insurance, but I have a sort of suspicious mole on my cheek that I would like removed for both peace of mind and cosmetic reasons as well. I called the only dermatologist in my area and the receptionist quoted me $125 for the visit, $125 for a biopsy, and additional $ for the lab to test the biopsy. I asked her if they couldn't just take the whole mole during the biopsy as it was for cosmetic reasons as well, and she just said it depended on the size and that they would only biopsy. It made no sense to me.....why would I want part of it removed? So it can look worse than it already does? Has anyone dealt with mole removal without insurance? Or does anyone have any advice for how I may be able to get the whole thing removed, perhaps I didn't explain myself clearly or something? This is the only derm. office in about 60 miles and the plastic surgeon is out of the question, charging $450-600 to remove one mole. If it helps, the mole is dark brown, slightly smaller than a pencil eraser, and slightly raised. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
