Question about Father in Fullmetal Alchemist?

Now, for anyone who has read/watched Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, it is shown that Father purged himself of the aspects of his personality that make up his cardinal sins (lust, gluttony, envy, sloth, greed, wrath and pride) and used them to create the Homunculi. Now, despite expelling his negative personality traits, he is still shown to be evil. Wouldn't he actually be a good guy though since all he would have left are his cardinal virtues (chastity, temperance, kindness, diligence, charity, patience and humility)?
